A Story Worth
Remembering
To speak about Cartagena de Indias means to be filled by a feeling of history, beauty and magic. La Merced Hotel Boutique, is part of that past characterized by pirates, oceans and treasures.
The hotel is located at Don Sancho Street, just across the traditional La Merced square, where both the historic Heredia Theater and the old Santa Teresa Convent still stand proudly. This beautiful setting is surrounded by the city’s oldest wall cordon where the Caribbean Sea breaks in full splendor.
The hotel’s old house was built during the first half of the 18th century has a history that is linked to Cartagena´s colonial-time. In 1897 the forefathers of Don Sabas Pretelt Martínez bought and restored the house by introducing a number of late colonial as well as republican style elements. The names of the hotel’s rooms and halls have been named to honor the members of this family.

Although the house still preserves its colonial and republican style structure, it has been refurbished with state of the art equipment, modern furniture and decorations designed to ensure the comfort of its guests.
